Blackberry Curve 8310

This morning, I woke up to find a few new text messages on my phone. I tried to reply to them, but none would send. If I hit "Send" on the menu, the menu went away, but the message stayed open. After I tried this several more times and I tried sending new messages instead of replying, my phone was still not working. I turned the phone on and off, but there was still the same problem. Next, I removed the battery and put it back in. This time, I went to messages (I now had the new messages icon at the top of my screen) but I couldn't see any new messages. In fact, I couldn't see any texts except for ones sent/received with photos. I could also see emails. I took the battery out a few more times, but it still wasn't working. However, new email messages that are sent DO appear in my inbox and I can open them. Each time I reinsert the battery, the message "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException" appears. Please help! Thank you
