Default Blackberry Bold 9900 or 9780

Alright, I've been reading about the 9900 for the past couple of days, and I can honestly say that I'm impressed, BUT there is one thing I do not like, and it's the battery life on the 9900, and also, from what I've heard, the 9780 has exceptional battery life, so it all comes down to this, should I get the 9900 or the 9780, and remember battery life is very important to me, but the new OS7 and the keyboard and the other new features on the 9900 are great, but are they really that much of a difference than the 9780?

I came from the 9780 and was very happy with it...
until I went into a Telus store and tried out the 9900. Huge difference.
The screen alone makes it worthwhile. The screen on the 9900 is absolutely beautiful.
As far as battery life goes. I don't see any difference between the 9900 and my 9780.
I'm using OS 7.0.0.353 on the 9900. I think there may have been some battery issues with some of the earlier OS.
I charge my 9900 every night when I'm sleeping. I have never had to charge midday.

If you need huge battery life and don't mind the slow processor/low rez screen - then the 97XX is a great choice.

If you want the best that RIM have to offer, then 99XX is the way to go. Battery life isn't awful for a smartphone with a fast processor and high resolution graphics, but it will need to be charged at night as Jake mentioned.

although i'm going to be stucked with my 9780 for a while now since buying a 9900 in near time would be a pain to the wallet, IMHO bold 9900 stands out in everything. although battery life is an issue, i would suggest that you consider bringing portable charger along with you - in your car, at the office, etc. i'm sure you can find many types of portable charger in the market. this will at least overcome that battery issue for a while, i guess...

I have to say I love my 9780. It has everything I need. With the latest OS version (.650) I can get several days out of my battery. The major difference b/w 9780 and 99XX series is the form factor and the touch screen. If you liked the 9000 Bold, maybe you'll like the 99XX series. Also, if touch is important, then maybe you'll like the 99XX, but you'd be better off with the 9860/50. Now, that being said, the OS6 will likely become obsolete faster than the OS7.

Blackberry Bold 9900 battery life is fine compared to other devices with those specifications and hardware..

The Bold 9780 Blackberry is really nice mobile phone with a long battery life but it has slower processor and it's using less hardware = less power.

I think that that Blackberry 9780 is still a great phone and for those who are looking for a reliable blackberry handset it's a nice phone to own.

BB 9900...Why? Future Proof and better compartibility with the evergrowing web needs.

On the other hand if you do not surf the internet and just use the phone for phone calls go for 9780..great battery and fits the hand great.

Although this is the wrong forum...I will post my comment.

As far as what the above poster said, I feel that it is best to go with the best that Blackberry offers because they can sometimes be slow to push out new phones. Then again if you are tied down for 2-3 years, does it really matter?

And One question; if he has no intention of doing anything but making phone calls, why get ANY smartphone. most 'dumbphones' will beat the battery life of all Blackberrys

Bold 9900 is very responsive in terms of the OS specially with the new OS 7.1. Also the keyboard is easy to use in my opinion. I would buy the Bold 9900 just for the improved hardware along.
