Re. your question. I have no evidence for it but my understanding is that it is GSM and therefor should work in Singapore. I have a 6200 monochrome and likewise works worldwide. The old ones are not provider branded and all unlocked.
When you insert a PAYG SIM and it shows gprs, (no caps) you should be fine with BIS.
I'm keen to know how you're getting on with it. Could you pase results as it may be of interest.
I have a 900 -- that's a pic I took of it in my avatar. Still have the sync connector/stand and the CD-ROM of the v. 2.1 desktop software, too.

i have searched the whole internet these days to try to get this old machine.
at last,
i'm very lucky to get a TIM version this week, which was exported to Hongkong by RTI about 10 years ago,
it's so hard to find an old BB that issued 14 years ago by RIM.

I am JEALOUS!
THAT is beautiful!
I am curious to know whether the users who posted here still use a BlackBerry.
I have 5 R900 in stock for sale complete with cradle and charger.I'm the only one selling them on eBay at the moment.Have some older RIM 957 and 857 for sale too.
Amazing devices!
Kudos to those who have well preserved and kept their ancient berries! The oldest one that I have with me right now, and still functioning is the 7920. Lovely piece of electronic rock xD
My first Blackberry was a 7290 which I loved apart from its quiet ringtone. I got given a 7230 which I hared and then I got an 8100 which I marvelled at - still do - how do they get ALL THAT in this tiny box. Then I ht the big time with an 8310 and now I have an 8900. The 8310 is still my favorite though.
Well it can't be used any more here in my country coz BIS services has stopped running for 2 years now. We can't even find any BlackBerry 10 phones for sale here too.
