7290 security help...

hey everyone!
heres the deal, a buddy of mine got a BB 7290 from his brother from the states. so he asked me to check it out for him... it locked to t mobile... luckily he using t mobile croatia here.. so the sim gets accepted.. i got a the 8310 on Vodafone, my sim isn't accepted in it.. well it is but cant use phone... anyway to get to the point... password.... in the options- security - general options.. i cant disable the password.... trackwheel gives me Change password, Wipe Handheld, Verify Sec Soft.. , Save, Close.

thats it .. its kinda annoying that everytime the keypad gets locked .. to unlock i cant just simply scrol unlock and click ... but i gotta type in a password.. which i set to the simplest thing. ..PPPPPP ... is there any way to get rid of this nuisance.
thx.. also on the screen it says Data Connection Refused... got gprs service.. and all ,.. my guess is thats cause i havent called the carrier to send me all the settings to the phone...

yes there is .. some hilton security... im folloewing the instructions in the link u gave me.. its taking forever to wipe... erasing information... hopefully it works..
