7290 - No phone icon, can't make or receive calls...

got an old 7290 for $40 from a friend, stuck my cingular sim card in (the BB is cingular branded as well) and i can only send/receive text messages - no phone call comes through and the phone button on the top of the BB does nothing. also no phone icon on the home screen that's referred to in all the manuals i've found online.

i see an enterprise activation icon which has me worried this phone came from some corporate setup and is restricted to data/text services.

just got the desktop software downloaded, gonna hook it up via usb and see if i can update it or find out any more information that way.

anyone have any ideas on how to get the phone functions working? haven't seen anything in the options menu referring to any locks being enabled. hopefully this isn't a stupid question covered by an FAQ i didn't see lol...

Have you tried calling ATT to see how the phone is provisioned?

Try re downloading the software and also cal ATT. I had a 7250 I bought from a friend as well and the same thing happened. So I re did the software and also made sure the right bb feature was on my account and everything was fine

i just got a 7290 as well and everything was fine- there was a phone icon on the main screen and i COULD make/receive calls.... until i started messing with some of the settings last nite and the icon disappeared and i cant make any calls!! i cant quite figure out what exactly ive done and if theres a way to "undo" it- anyone know? i did add themes last nite too... but dont know how that could affect anything? (total noobie here).

Hold down the left ALT button and click the wheel. Choose unhide all (or show all).

Hopefully your phone Icon was only hidden...

well.. what i ended up doing was deleting one of the themes i had downloaded... and low and behold, when i restarted my phone, the phone icon reappeared and all was well again! hmph. could it be a memory issue? and the PHONE is the first thing to go..? haha weird-
