7250 USB charge

I was helping my step mom move out of her dads office building, her dad filed bankruptcy so we could keep whatever we wanted, I found a Blackberry 7250 but it has no battery, So I was wondering if the BB was hooked up to the USB port, if it is charging? and If so can the phone be used without the battery? I have another cell phone that can run without a battery if plugged in. Probably a dumb question but, I dont know jack about BBs. Or if somone has an extra battery for one lying around I could buy it from you possibly. Thank you

just plugged in and it will show the missing battery icon
