    Default Z30 and Tmobile

So I went into T-Mobile today to get my wife the new Iphone 5S, and ended up talking to a guy that works there. He knows I'm a huge blackberry fan and we talk about the company and their phones from time to time. Well, today, he informed me that he talked with the regional Blackberry Rep., who stopped by the store. During the conversation, he mentioned that the Z30 was definitely coming to T-Mobile, and hopefully as soon as the beginning of November. He also stated that the physical models won't be sold in most stores, it at all (which we know), and that the store should have a display model, and MAYBE a few models, just for launch to see how it goes. Anyway, please don't take this as 100% truth, just what I was told at the store today.

Promising. Wonder how long it will take to reach NZ. I may have to buy it in the UK again like what I did with my Z10.

That sounds plausible. The caveat being that store staff rarely know that much about the actual launches, but it would be nice to think that T-Mo stores will try carrying at least a few devices.

I don't put much credibility in the actual employees, but I literally stop in that store about 3-4 times a month and he is very pro Blackberry, even though he doesn't keep up with the times much. I told him about the Q10 and the Z30 before he ever knew anything about them. He made the point to go out of his way today to tell me about the conversation with the BBRY rep and was like "Man, you were right." because he had no idea what I was talking about when I told him about the Z30 a couple of months ago. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that it comes true so I can pick one up. He also made mention that the BBRY guy told him that Verizon would be actually stocking the Z30 because of their focus on business contracts and professionals. I will wait to see if that comes to fruition as well.

Good to hear. Supposedly BlackBerry did move their US sales force from Canada to the US, ostensibly to better work with the carriers here going forward (especially for Z30). Fingers crossed that they will do more effective marketing this time around.

This phone is probably BlackBerry's best shot at some consumer pick up but they need to promote and not just leave them sitting in stores.

I wonder how much they will sell it for. When I picked up my Z10 from T-Mobile (launch day), it was the cheapest out of the 4 major carriers @ ~550.

I don't think their focus is consumer driven at this point. It is more business focused bit that does not mean some.consumwrs won't buy it. I for one may do so if it does come to tmobile. I switched from bold 9700 to Z10 and own a playbook as well.

Consumers are price-sensitive, even if it comes subsidized - selling for $600-700 will kill the sales immediately.

Why would they make an exception to their pricing for the Z30?

The Z10 and Q10, like all their other new devices were each sold at full retail at launch, where you pay $99 down and pay off the rest over $20 installments until its paid off.

Overtime, there were some deals where the down payment was less or something. It is only after you pay off the balance of the retail value of the phone that you are "contract free." The Z30, if it does come to T-Mobile, will likely be priced the same way. T-Mobile still wants to make money, and know that if someone is willing to buy the device online, they probably really want it, and will pay $99 down again.

I agree which is why it does not appear their business model going forward is consumer driven and more business driven. As a result, some consumers that may want the higher end BB will have to pay up.

Yes of course, store staff have to know about the Z30 so they can be ready to steer customers away and on to IOS or Android.

This is awesome news. I have not seen much on the T-Mobile front concerning the Z30. I will be buying one as soon as it is available.

I'll be picking one up. Hope the off contract price is $600 or less...but I'm sure that's wishful thinking

Actually no, they were about ~$50 under retail, even w/ 2-y (interest-free) payment plan. Soon they dropped it to $0 money down, bringing it to $480 total.

I'm pretty sure even.in worst case it will take Z10's (launch) price point or a tad lower so most likely it will be under $600, yes.

take it with extreme grain of salt. if it is coming Nov, wouldn't there be some kind of announcement? it is only a couple of weeks away. company are not going to tell u a week before release date. BB might not even be around soon and carrier probably dont want to take the risk.

Sounds like he is being a good salesman more than anything else regarding your knowledge of BB stuff versus his and his lack of knowledge.

I would have to assume if it was Apple he would be the same about it. I.E. when the 5s was not announce he would know nothing but when he found out about it he will tell you "man you are right!"

I hope so...I've won some casino money so this phone is basically free for me lol but still....even as a BlackBerry fan it's hard to pay top dollar for a device and I feel like I'm not getting top specs. $600 (hopefully lower) would make me perfectly happy especially since I'll be selling this Z10

the price was lower on the z10 probably due to the omission of a few extras like the headphones. might be the same with the z30. now if there was a way to trade up to it....
