Z10 at the name of the first BB10 phone
Found this article a few minutes ago. Not the greatest name, but it looks more like a mockup ad anyway...

Assuming this rumor is true, that would be pronounced "zed ten".
I wonder if this would confuse the non-Canadians though. Maybe it'll be the "zee ten." It'll be interesting to see which one they go with. - 12-20-2012, 03:14 PM #4

Yea cause it's not like there is some island on the earth with a country where English happens to be named after it that just so happens to pronounce the letter Z the same way you do. There are more people in the world than Canadians! - couldn't resist :P but oblivious I don't think RIM is gonna be to bothered about localized pronunciations. Personally Zed 10 sounds better.

The name is okay but I'm all for the naming convention.
Z for full touch. X for qwerty. Rather than 99xx for Bolds, 98xx for Torch. 93xx for Curve. I think it just complicates things. I hope this is them streamlining their portfolio. One device per thing instead of 9900/9930 for Bold.
10 for BB10. 11 for BB11 etc.
Way more simpler than before. - 12-20-2012, 03:48 PM #7

When I read "BB Z10" I instantly heard a French/German guy's voice saying "Zee 10", but he was actually saying "The 10".
For some reason I stereotype French/German guys saying "the" as "zee"

My first free association upon hearing the name was with Z100 radio station in New York.

I`m curious to find out why they went with ``z`` and ``x`` instead of ``L`` & ``N``? L10 and N10 don't sound that bad. But, than again this is just a rumour, it might not be true.
Maybe they'll give everyone a curve ball and call it the "Blackberry Playphone" - 12-20-2012, 05:44 PM #12
It must be legit. The L-Series forum has just been renamed.

Z10 at the name of the first BB10 phone
they should do a research before they start giving names like these...
it sounds too Sony Ericsson's lines of phones.
do a wiki on Sony Ericsson lines... there's more than just a V, W, X and Z series..
they should have maintained the L and N series... or London and Arista.

Are you sure that's not a mockup after someone heard Frank Boulben talking about Z10 phone...I mean the 10 phone..you know, accents and all

PS the video layout on the white phone doesn't make alot of sense and is definitely placed images. - 12-20-2012, 07:47 PM #17
CBK has a nice article about this on the Main everyone should check it out if you havnt already.
Its going to be difficult for me to pick one method of saying this. On one hand im Canadian so Zed10 is natural. But for the marketing/advertising/business side of me 'BBZee' has a great ring to it

Maybe ' Z' is for Zithers, i.e. the German national musical instrument in honor of Big T

It just reminds me of the ZTE Nubia Z5

Re: Z10 at the name of the first BB10 phone
how so?
is the music group called "Zed Zed Top"? Will Nyqil help you get your Zeds? Sing the alphabet song. Does Zed rhyme with V?
I think this is being way over analized.
Its Said to be called the "Z10".
Are we now trying to be "PC" with smartphones?
My bad....."Ped Ced"Many thanks, downloads and dollars to all the developers out there!!!
