A BB10 demo at CES would have been even better, but this only pushes that back a couple of weeks.
The OS 2.0 showing at CES is important, though, and I'm extremely pleased to see what amounts to a formal announcement on this.

I suspect if they do show off BB10 it will be via a simulator, to show BB10 functionality existing, it would be a passive aggressive move on RIM's part to tell the analysts to suck it.

"And now, the moment everyone has been waiting for: The removal of the tabs and the return to the iDroid interface on the PlayBook homescreen"
What is OS2 going to do that OS1.xxxxxx doesn't do? Leave the OS, it's fine. Fix the stone-age apps.
I swear if they debut a botched-up interface and leave all the native apps in their primitive state I'll use my PB for a game of fetch with the dog.

I honestly don't think it's a BAD idea for them to show a BB10 demo. And, yes, it would send a message to the analysts. Your post makes that sound like a bad thing.

Can someone tell me what they're changing in the interface?
I have the OS2 beta and they removed the tabs... I see no other real difference in the interface. Are there supposed to be more changes made?

They need to not show things until they are close to being launched, just as they need to stop giving release dates unless they are near, and easily obtainable,
Showing off BB10 now will show it's flaws as much as it's strengths, and RIM isn't the media darling, so the flaws will be reported on, the fact it was only a simulation will be reported on, and they will need more passive aggressive media spectacles to show progression before release, taking time away from actual strategic planning, and development time as focuses will be on things they can show off, rather than improving core functionality

I'll believe in something amazing when i see it myself. RIM has plenty of time to decide not to show anything like they did with devcon. Hopefully they will either fire Jim or keep him muzzled around this that time so he can't make more outlandish statements.

OS 2.0 definitely needs to be shown off. What I would like RIM to do at MWC is show off BB10 ONLY if they have it working on the Colt (or similar device). One that has been scrapped, no LTE, etc but shows that the OS is working. I dont think it would be that much more difficult to show BB10 on a device that has the same screen dimensions as the PB. IF they can show off even a 1.0.8 version of the OS running on a phone that would be perfect. If they CANT do just that, to that particular level, they need to now show ANYTHING at MWC.
