Virgin BB10 tester - have enough data heads up?
I found this interesting on the Virgin Mobile testing sign up page:
"Heads-up! Depending on your plan, you might need to upgrade to have enough data to get the most out of a smartphone. Be sure you've got enough data or are cool to upgrade before applying for the Tester Team."
http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/hot-of...ster-team.html
What exactly does this mean?
Does it mean data won't be compressed via BIS?
Keep in mind most people on current BB's won't go over 100MB. - 01-16-2013, 02:14 PM #2
It means they need more data! They'll be uploading vids/pics, that's data heavy stuff.
BTW, I use over 1.5gb monthly with my 9810.Z10

100 MB a month I wish. I've hit 6gb's past two months on my 9900. In fairness I was streaming a lot. Without streaming 1GB has always be enough for me.
I'm with Virgin now and they have been great and their plans are pretty good. - 01-16-2013, 04:57 PM #4
It's just a CYA (cover-your-a$$) statement. The short and long of it is if you're a tester you're going to be expected to be on twitter, using the browser, uploading pics and video etc.. nothing more then any of us crackberry users do now.. but beleive it or not there are still people out there using a blackberry just to send txt messages using a dumb phone plan with no data..
As for the 100mb.. that was true years ago.. with the newer high graphic browsers, video/audio streaming and especially tethering to a playbook and the like many people are up in the 1GB+ range.Blackberry since before blackberry was Blackberry...
RIM 950 -> BB 7100 -> 7230 -> 8700 -> BB Curve 8300 -> BB Curve 8310 - BB Bold 9000 ->
BB Bold 9700 -> BB Torch 9800 -> BB Bold 9900 -> Blackberry Z10 + Playbook 32GB

Just use wifi data really means nothing. They save have enough data because If someone wins the phone that is clueless how data works they could burn through go worth of data and get a super bill to boot lol

I don't stream, and I'm on wifi half the time, and I still manage to hit anywhere from 200 to 400mb a month on my 9800 on 3G.
