    Default Verizon 9630 Training Postponed

Fellas, please don't rip me for this please.. I just spoke with a Tech Rep and the Tech Mgr in Greenville, SC and I was told that training for the 9630 scheduled for last week was postponed. They had an expected a release date in the middle of July, but suspect that it has been delayed. They went on to say that Verizon did not want another "Fiasco" like the Storm. I was a little surprised by their being so open about it all. I didn't have to lead the conversation or grill these guys much. The Mgr gave me his card and told me to call him in a month or so and he'd give me the latest info. I truly felt confident in what they were saying, but you guys be the judge. Again go easy on me

I'll definitely keep the info flowing when I get it, if I don't get hammered for spreading potential propaganda. I can understand the apprehension of people and what may be considered rumors. I don't want to be thought of as that guy..

Well your in the "News and RUMORS" forum anyway, so even if anyone wants to take it as just that, it's in the right place.
Personally I don't mind reading a rumor now and then. It really only gets out of hand when there are multiple threads with the same rumor. Regardless if it's a rumor thread or a question or a leaked OS. The less threads there are on the same subject the more informed everyone will be in the end.
As long as people do a search 1st to see if same thing was posted recently we won't end up with any type of mess.
I don't recall seeing this posted anywhere else.
Definitely keep the info coming if that turns out to be the case. Also I'm sure if it is true we will here more about it at some point.

When he talked about the delay, that's goes along with the date I seen from Verizon. I don't think we'll see July.

Frankly, I don't understand how the Tour release could be nearly as much of a "fiasco"as the Storm release due to the fact that it is not a touchscreen device. Anyone care to elaborate?

    Default Tour

I wonder if the Tour will have WiFi. I have heard that some Verizon models will be available with WiFi, but hope they could adapt with a software or firmware update rather than have to change out the phone.

Actually, the Storm release was not a fiasco. It really bumped RIM's sales numbers up 4th quarter in a way that could not have been rivaled any other way.

It's the Storm itself that turns out to be the fiasco.

sorry i cant really believe anyone on saying you talked to a manager. anyways the storm was a fiasco because it was a touchscreen phone. all reviews on this phone have been excellent so i dont think there will be and issue. i see a july release with no issues.

Well I'm sorry to hear that BBALL. I speak the truth. Like I said you be the judge. As far as Busaboy or whatever his screen name is I know this guy and he's a troublemaker! Don't kill the messenger, I have his (the Mgr's) card and will be calling him back in a few weeks. I'll let you know what he says.

I really agree with this. I dont see Verizon Talking anything bad about the Storm. It made them and RIM a lot on there end. So that kinda sounds weird.

I refuse to do business with any company that is outright anti consumer! - Verizon: Restricted GPS, outdated phones, Force manufacture to cripple device (wifi and RIM), Restricted OS... list goes on and on.

....And those annoying commercials. Someone shoot that ***** already!

    Default Crippled? Don't think so

I've tried T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. I suppose it all depends on where you go, but in the Boston metro area T-Mobile blows, AT&T is pretty ok, but Verizon is simply rock solid bulletproof. The only reason I'm glad my T-Mobile BlackBerry (provided by work) has WiFi is that I can make calls in my house. Without Wifi, T-Mobile coverage is too poor for the thing to work at all. Not so with Verizon. I don't need Wifi with Verizon -- coverage is awesome everywhere I go. The other problem with supporting Wifi is that the network provider cannot really stand behind the network if you're not using their network. If you have a problem and you're roaming on Wifi - they can't do anything about it. I think Verizon's approach is much better. Make sure the network you do control is rock solid and don't let customers use any other network that you don't control. That way you'll know their experience will always be the best. To me, that's extremely customer focused. T-Mobile can't compare and putting the support burden of making sure your Wifi router has Media QoS enabled etc. isn't a good service at all.

Very well put :-) don't think I could have said it better myself! Although a little more open GPS usability would be nice :-)

So your saying Verizon cripples their phones (removing wifi) in order to "help" the consumer? lol and you applaud them for it. hmm ok.

No, not the dreaded "No WiFi on Vzn BBs" issue! We all know this much: people who are on Verizon get this unseen radioactive signal that says "Wifi, you don't need no steenking Wifi, you're on the nation's fastest 3g network (or is that ATT?). Be happy.
Seriously I said that the Tour won't come out until the new iPhone release furor has died down. People forget how much money Apple spends on advertising when they release stuff. Way more than RIM/Vzn. No sense competing with that for what is essentially an 8900 phone without Wifi (lol).
