Would be lovin the same old same old... Skype and Netflix. That being said, I vid. chatted with my kids from Sydney Intl. Airport, Australia to home - a 15 hr. flight from Canada, on our PB's and it was flawless. if it works that good... screw Skype. VERY IMPRESSED!...and New Zealand doesn't get Netflix, so not a big loss there either. I have maintained, it would be nice, but I CAN do with out.

    Cheers.

For some reason, I just love this line:

I like what he's doing with app control.

He's going for the big apps, meanwhile; controlling the garbage. This will allow developers to male money if the app is really good. This would also categories BB App World as this selected only type of environment.

Developers will see that if they have a great app, RIM will help them succeed.

Why would that be the case? Out of Thor's control, the media still spins tons of uncalled for negative stories on RIM (Perfect example being the NYT article about how BlackBerry users are ashamed of their phones) - in that case Thor came out and responded, setting the record straight.

I would say Thor handles issues well, in the face of an overly negative media sentiment towards his company.
LOL. OK, well that's fine, in other words, you like his reaction to media, but he doesn't really "handle" the medias, as in: ability to prevent "overly negative sentiment towards his company".

But how many is too many? I half-expected him to say something about fart apps, but he's too smart for that.

I like the emphasis on getting important apps. Making fun of duplication in other app stores is spin, but they all do that.
None can tell how many is too many. It's too subjective. depends on each users see it. Though it is still great to have tons of apps at our device we use.

Skype is different story. It might not show up on BB10 as Win8 mobile and BB10 are in direct competition.I think RIM has already a contingency plan. Say it has developed video chat app together with Facebook. Notice that there is NO facebook nor instagram available on Win8 metro or Win 8 mobile. This would be HUGE for RIM as Facebook has enormous user base. This would make Skype way less important imo.
Loving your "rapid fire English" as referenced in the article.

I also love that last bad a$$ talk from Heins.

Well, how many solitaire apps do you need?
None myself. Thor seems to think one, though.

BTW, without checking, I would guess the percentages would be similar.
If you compare apps to console games, there aren't many variations per type of game. For example, if you want a war game, you'll probably get Call of Duty or Medal of Honor. It would be crazy to walk into a game shop and ask for a war game and then be taken to an aisle with thousands of variations of the same kind of game!

With Skype replacing MSN in the coming months, and Skype becoming available through outlook.com, an app may not even be necessary

This is especially true for BB10 devices and the Playbook, given that they play incredibly well with the web itself, and things accessible from the web. Odds are pretty good that Skype via outlook.com would be built using HTML5 or another widely used web platform.... hopefully not silverlight... or at least that's what I would think in my own head.
