So correct me if I'm wrong .. but in simpler terms, all that's happening is Bell/Telus are pretty much speeding up their networks?

All along I thought they were rolling out GSM networks.. I'm assuming that's not the picture now.. or is it?

Now imagine Rogers became CDMA. LOL.

Cdma network and cdma devices will be supported for a few more years. They are not switching, they are adding a new layer of service. Rumors are that it will be HSPA+. I'm not a techie either, but apparently hspa+ allows very fast download speeds.

I'm taking a pass on the Tour because of this. I want to see what new devices they will offer when this new network is rolled out.

Here is the initial press release:
Home | Media | TELUS

Most rumours are that they will launch this in select markets this fall.

In howard forums, people have been reportin picking up signals from it for a while, in various locations. They have a thread devoted to it in the Telus section, with a very good sticky detailing what frequencies/bands will work with it:
HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - Official Future HSPA Network Discussion (Phones/Plans/Network etc..)

There is an existing thread about this on crackberry as well:

Happy reading!
