I hope RIM stays away from facebook. I do not have a FB account and I plan on not having anything to do with that company. If RIM partners with them, I probably wont buy a BB10 device which I really want.
I can't see this happening anyways. RIM values privacy and security. FaceBook is a security nightmare and always has been. I doubt RIM would want to be caught up in FBs privacy complaints that are brought up all the time. - 04-25-2012, 08:52 AM #52
Besides that, Facebook is a flash in the pan; remember MySpace? Something new will come out to replace it, that always happens.
I hope it's Garmin! - 04-25-2012, 09:02 AM #54
I'm not a big fan of social networks. I know a lot of people now that would rather just stay home and socialize on FB/twitter than actually come out in the real world and see people face to face.
If we can't talk in person, phone, text, IM and email are the best ways to get in touch with me. I have no time for Facebook. - 04-25-2012, 09:16 AM #55

Any timing on when this "announcement" is going to happen, if ever?
- 04-25-2012, 09:24 AM #57
Yea. I don't care where everyone is at all times, and if I do, I will call/text you to find out. Some people feel they need to broadcast every single thing they do. It's crazy.
When twitter first came out, I had an account for about a week. I stopped using it after everyone was updating every 2 minutes with something useless.

Honestly, who cares? - 04-25-2012, 09:27 AM #58
Is this it?!?!
The city of Stratford and Waterloo-based Research in Motion (RIM) have established a strategic partnership to collaborate on a live “smart home” technology pilot project that will use RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook tablet as a portable in-home display and wireless controller.

Agreed. I'm not saying all people do this. I am saying when twitter first came out, the majority of people I know were doing it. I'm talking about real life friends, not people I just know on the internet.
Twitter is great. I like it better than facebook. Tons of useful information is posted on there all the time. Same goes for advertisements and good deals. I still don't use it though. I just stick to my RSS feeds when I have free time. - 04-25-2012, 11:26 AM #63
How did we morph into Tweeter from "SPECULATION: Rim and Facebook strategic partnership? Announcement tomorrow"

Line-up, single file, who's next in the rumour mill. Be respectful, no budding in please. You'll each have your turn. LOL.

think it was purely speculation...nothing is out there

Is Facebook working on its own smartphone?
This article seems to imply a potential partnership between Facebook and HTC. So far, no news source has any speculation about a RIM partnership (except for N4BB yesterday).
BB World kicks off next Tuesday. Would it make any sense for them to make an announcement now instead of using BB World to help generate the buzz? Why is it that when your contract commitment is up, the phone you always wanted is now old and the phone you now want won't be out until the next quarter?

I dont think RIM is going to be partnering with anyone there making it very clear that there excited about BB10 hardware and software. Would be really suprised to see a partnership this late with a major company

Wow so nothing again. Great job RIM.

I'm lost in your logic. Why is RIM on the hook for a rumor generated by N4BB? RIM said Playbook 2.0 would be here in February. It was. RIM's head game guy said that we should expect a surprise. Angry Birds Space showed up in App World. So far this year, they've kept promises.

If there is an annoucment I think it will come after the markets close so soon if there is one

Despite whoever the rumored partnership is with, the article states:
At the bottom of the comments, Lucas responds:We’re hearing from multiple sources that Research In Motion plans to announce its first strategic BlackBerry partnership tomorrow. RIM employees have been notified they will be briefed internally tomorrow, but likely after a public announcement.

Exactly, I was looking for it before the opening. Guess we’ll see, but at the end of the day it is just a rumor…that a lot of people were hearing lol.Why is it that when your contract commitment is up, the phone you always wanted is now old and the phone you now want won't be out until the next quarter?
