Default RIM unveils music, movies and TV deals for BB10

BlackBerry 10: RIM unveils music, movie and TV deals for new operating system - thestar.com

"Research In Motion’s long-awaited BlackBerry 10 will offer access to music, movies and TV shows from dozens of studios and labels as it looks to claw back a share of the consumer market.

The Waterloo, Ont.-based technology firm announced Monday that it’s struck deals with dozens of media companies, from industry giants to independent labels, to provide content on its new BlackBerry World multimedia storefront.

“Music and video content is an integral part of a rich mobile experience,” said chief marketing officer Frank Boulben in a press release. “People want easy and convenient access to their favourite music, movies and TV shows where they are.”

"BlackBerry 10 users in Canada, the U.S. and Britain will have access to videos from studios such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and STUDIOCANAL, along with broadcasters including ABC Studios and Warner Bros. RIM plans to roll out the service to more countries.

Most videos will be available to buy or rent the same day they’re released on DVD. TV shows will be available the day after broadcast.

The music catalogue, initially available in 18 countries, will include songs from labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Matador Records.

The Weather Network also announced an interactive weather application for the BlackBerry 10 that will include a “follow-me” function that detects location and provides local weather forecasts.

It tells us what music labels and what movie studios. But not what tv channels shows are from.

Here's hoping it's got Blu-Ray quality movies, FLAC music files, or even 24 bit WAV music files. So that's why RIM licenced EXFAT from MS! (max file size with FAT32 is 4GB)

Hopefully the browser will be good enough to give a desktop quality experience for those services that haven't yet or are not going to release an app for BB10 for example possibly Netflix, Google Maps and Hulu.
