Turning it over to an operations guy? How can that possibly go wrong at a time when RIM needs to produce viable products just to survive.The board was expected to name Thorsten Heins, previously one of two chief operating officers, to be chief executive, according to the company. - 01-22-2012, 08:29 PM #7Be Bold. RIM'S CEOS ARE OUT!
I like this section;
For people hoping RIM will sell off its handset business and focus on software, Heins has a message, "I'm happy that we're not just a handset manufacturer ... It's this integrated platform."

Why is it that the only commandment that God gave that starts with the word remember, we seem to "forget".

I LOVE news like this. I bought a crap load of shares at $13.45

Wow.
We knew they'd be leaving the board, but I hadn't dared dream they'd give up the executive. Even so, given RIM's decline in so short a time the buck had to stop somewhere.
I will say again, sometime last fall, the adults stepped in... - 01-22-2012, 08:41 PM #18
yup, production and coherence have been thier problem, so here's to rim's success in the coming months.
The only think i really hope is that we dont have another delay on the bb10 device launch. from what i've read, jim and mike had a habit of setting unrealistic deadlines and i hope december wasn't one of them. - 01-22-2012, 08:42 PM #19
Well, for better or worse, it was eventually going to happen.
From the head MOFO in charge:
"BlackBerry has acknowledged how important the U.S. market will be to its turnaround efforts. "You got to win here to win everywhere else," BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins told the AP. "That's just the way it is."

As a RIM shareholder, I want to thank Jim and Mike for what they did to build this company, and for the courageous decision to step away when the moment called for it.
I still believe in the future of RIM. This painful decision helps ensure it. - 01-22-2012, 08:47 PM #25
Depends on who is replacing them...
Culture change or cosmetic?
