The rumor on the road map, is that Verizon will be getting 3 different Blackberries.

1. EV-DO Bold 9030 "Niagara", est. release 1H/CY09
2. EV-DO Curve 8930 "Jupiter", est. release 1H/CY09
3. EV-DO Pearl Flip 8230 "Apex", est. release 1H/CY09

1H is the first half of the year.
CY is the calendar year so 2009.

Guessing upgrade isn't up yet, but don't get your hopes up on these release days since they haven't even been announced by RIM yet. Well at least until CES is over then we'll know if their announced or not.

I'm on blackberry withdrawal after dumping my storm yesterday (3 replacements later). I'm drueling over the potential for the bold to come to verizon. I read somewhere that it has a May release date attached to it. Can anyone confirm?

I came over from another carrier for the Storm. I really really want the Niagra now. I was told that if I took the storm back and bought a cheap phone and go month to month I would still have to pay full price. They also said I could go back to my old carrier until the new phone came out. Is this true? I like the storm but love the Bold, especially if it has wifi!!!!!

First one was one of the initial release ones - Screen wouldn't click on top part. Second one- Screen clicked awesome for 2 weeks then stopped clicking near the U on landscape mode. Third one that came yesterday no click at all.....I was fed up

This is true if you BUY a phone to hold you over! However, why not just go back to your old phone? I used my NE2 for a VX6800. Hated it, returned it within the 1 month. Went back to my razr for 3 months on month to month, then picked up a Curve complete with NE2 discount.

So, don't buy a cheap phone, go back to your old one.

Yes you do. It is a awesome device. I believe a lot of people are going to exchange/drop their Storm when this hits Verizons' shelves. But it's a great device, fast, beautiful screen, real snappy OS. Total package.

VZW does support that phone, it might just be a matter of getting it unlocked.

I think there are only two important questions remaining; one being release date (we'll let that one rest for a while), the other being form factor.

Talk to a friend, and see if they have an old phone you can use for a few months
