India is an important market and the size of the pb suits them very well, more so than the Apple/android/windows offerings.

This is good news. Let's hope OS2 is great and RIM maintains its 'aspirational' status in India.

With the negative slaughter upon launch, lack of advertising and the k,fire on at similar pricing RIM had to move. Looks like that move has paid off!
I truly believe that once people actally try this device instead of listen to others they will pic it over any of the competition.

Um, 12k units? In a market potentially measured in the hundreds of millions, seriously?

Keeping within the view that India has a large market for gadgets and phones, there are chances that it will sweep the market just as it has now, in the future.

the PB has sold out yes. but the numbers pale in comparison to what the pad does. the pad sells around 50k in a month.

but yes the excitement is good and that can mean only good news for RIM and its users

12k in 4 days hardly pales in comparison to 50k in one month, I think I understand though. I'll ask you. What would you say it is that Indians do with their tablets and witch one do you feel works best in the country. Or both but, im interested.

the local news states that the next 12 months Indians may consume 1,000,000 tablets. If you do the math RIM just provided their OS a places in that market.

RIM lost money on every one of those tablets. Profitless marketshare is worthless. Marketshare at a loss is worth even less. By the way, isn't India the home of the $35, government sponsored tablet? Good luck making a profit.

RIMM will remain big in the third world until the folks there realize that RIM's status in the more fashionable parts of the world is over and done with. This could take another 3 years at least.
