installed almost all day now. took about 45 mins to do the initial install. hung for a while at the last device initialization section. took a long time to reboot after the first battery pull, 2nd went better. i loaded the os starting with my phone exactly as it was before, 3rd party apps, etc. mem card was slow at first to load images. video works great. email works fine, no html. youtube is cool. i went all day between battery pulls and when i pulled the 2nd time my memory was at 10000000, after, 17000000. not sure why. bluetooth works fine. mms works fine. all seems well to me.

The problem with google maps wasn't that it wouldn't run, it was that the gps wouldn't zero in on the location and would use cell towers to triangulate ur location.

To answer your first question, I'm not sure if the 8310 OS will run proper on a 8300. Try at your own risk. Also to answer your second question, did you run the OS on your computer before you tried to install. If you don't run the OS, it probably won't ask to upgrade.

Talking It Works!!!

Sorry if i seem a bit over excited, but i've been a member of crakberry without actually being a member. Never really had the need to reply/post a comment. however! this is one i must post!

the 4.5 from vodafone works! i'm with Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (T.S.T.T.) and it works seemlessly. i've been trying to locate this OS since the mention of it. a couple changes, but i love the video cam and the voice recorder, about to see if it records while in call. THX for the link y'all!!!

They never announce when a OS will be available to a carrier.

Default New memory capacity

Can someone confirm that with the 4.5 OS we can now use SDHC? And if so, up to what capacity?

Thumbs up

So some of the promised features are working out with the new OS. I definitely will be purchasing a bluetooth stereo headset and an 8gig card. Only thing I've ran into is the program "Color Pearl" (the free version of pimp my pearl) won't work properly anymore with the new security enhancements

I downloaded the OS and installed it tonight. Install was about 45 minutes, enough time to make supper.

I upgraded from 4.2.2.194 and so far everything seems stable. Not a single reboot or freeze. After install, my file free memory went from 31mb to 22mb, and after optimization it was back up at 27mb. I started to worry at this point because it dropped to 26mb then to 25 mb rather quickly, so I pulled the battery and let it sit for about ten minutes. After the reboot it was at 26, where it has been holding steady. I can live with 26mb.

All of my previous apps seem to working fine, but BBMaps has disappeared. The only real problem I'm having is that I can't seem to record videos. I can start up the camera and it appears to be recording, but I can not play it back and it doesn't save the file anywhere. has anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: There is deffinately a memory leak. Not sure of the severity, but I'll keep an eye on it.

OK, from what I can tell it seems that my memory leak and my video recorder issues may be tied together.

I noticed some other weird stuff with the VR, like the Close option from the menu doing absolutely nothing and the Back key doing nothing either. The End key would send me back to the home screen, but the VR would continue running in the background. This was confirmed using the Alt+Back option. The only way I've found to actually close the VR is a battery pull. Even a Alt+Shift+Del won't do it.

Now after the pull and the VR closed, File Free is again holding steady at 26.6mb. I think for now I'll just avoid the VR and see what happens.
