New BB10 icons caught on video
As was mentioned before, RIM has updated the guidelines for the icons in BB10 to measure 114 x 114 pixels. Berryreview posted an article citing a recent video that appears to show off the new icon set.

When they mentioned a "drop shadow effect" on the revamped icons, this wasn't what I was expecting. I was thinking the icons wouldn't still be enclosed in a rectangle, but it looks like they are. That means they take up about the same amount of space as the old icons which is a good thing IMO. Bigger touch targets are better for homescreen icons.

There is a slight difference, not enough to even count really. Assuming those really are the new ones.
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Don't like 'em... still.
Fix them again RIM.
IT'S FINALLY HERE!

The updated icons really look slick, however, I still prefer the first version. It just seemed like the first version needed to have the edges rounded ever so slightly and needed to be tweaked a little bit, that's all. But, its just my preference. It doesn't matter because I'm still going to buy this kick-a** phone anyway and for many other reasons than icons.

The icons look a bit smaller and rounded. I didn't have a problem with the previous design, just like now I am cool with the rounded feel of this one. We shall know for sure on 30.1.13

Actually, this I would not mind. Perhaps lighten the shadow a bit.

It would be cool if they created the icons to be like BlackBerry App World's icon, but having the differentiated icons have their pictures inside the Black circle and then have the labels under the bottom.

This seems to be an improvement over the square, blocky icons everyone was complaining about previously BUT it's still anyone's guess as to what final production will look like...
You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same!

No matter what the icons look like BB10 looks super smooth now, and fast. And they still have a couple months to make it better too!

It isn't that much different, but I think it does look better. There is actual transparency behind the App World icon, for example, which looks much better. So I'm pretty satisfied with the changes from what I can tell.

wow ... what a reactive and fast interface ... it's far above my current dev Alpha; no "doitagain" swipe and thunder lightning responsiveness.
Also the "personal" and "work" perimeters (have to bookmark this language lol) ...

Ehh...I liked the original icons better; thought they were more distinctive and fit with the rest of the OS. I still think the OS needs more polished. Things are definitely must faster and it no longer looks like the device is missing swipes, but it isn't all roses. There are lots of things that can be cleaned up (this is often the most tedious, and hardest part, so I sympathize with the engineers!)
- The menu transitions and the keyboard raising/lowering look a little disjointed (almost like they're not coordinated; can't explain it).
- The browser loads the images for the tabs after the tab screen is opened; it works, but it feels kinda clunky, and almost like the device isn't as fast as you
- The browser's address bar remains stuck half-way in the page after the keyboard is closed

Oh, and AFAICT the menu button hasn't changed (it's still the three dots).Terminal Musings: http://www.allengeorge.com
