Negative media bashing, now in comic form!
"What more is there to say about RIM? Not much, so here's a comic."
See the attachment for a comic from Canadian Business magazine.
Now I realize that it is a 'year in review' but really there is nothing flattering here. Brutally negative considering it is a Canadian magazine. - 01-09-2013, 06:11 PM #2Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Dude relax, it's a comic and 'inner feelings' are brought into the picture, for all we know Thor probably was sweating on the inside, he is the main man behind the company that's in rough shape and for the first time (after ONLY 4 months on job) publicly presenting the future of the company.

I'm hooked...where do I subscribe...must see final outcome...I'm sure it's complete domination though.

I dunno, the art is a little flat and the story isn't very compelling.

I have to admit that seeing Jim & Mike with the Ship-In-A-Bottle and the Sudoku Book made me giggle.

Well, reading that sure was a waste of time, and downloading it a waste of bandwidth.

I wouldn't say it is inaccurate but it has a very negative slant given the excellent job that Thor has done. It didn't mention the growth in subscribers, cash, or sentiment. RIM has also done a fantastic job in managing costs and achieving the targeted savings from the CORE program a quarter early.
The quotes they selected for him also misrepresent how he feels about RIM's situation and his excitement in delivering BB10.
I don't think it has been peachy keen but he does deserve credit where credit is due. - 01-10-2013, 12:00 AM #13
Not only it's true, but it's factual.

So, like any good comic, we have seen the first part, before all the ads for the xray glasses, etc. it did say T.B.C. Isn't the second part where the hero kicks **** and gets the girl....waiting for the second installment.

Dude, that's the Canadian way and it's not unique to RIM. Americans cheer for their own, Canadians love to tear down theirs! The day after Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in the olympics, I heard Canucks at work, at the gym and at the coffee house cutting him down or making fun of him.

How the heck is this 'brutally negative'?!
I give up...you folks have given up scouring the web for any negative opinion posted about BB10 and have now started inventing 'media bashing' where there is none.
There's nothing inaccurate or 'brutally negative' about this. There's nothing negative about BB10 there either. Are you more concerned with how nice the CEO of RIM is made to look in a comic versus how nice BB10 is perceived by consumers AND the media?
I wish some of you would give up this pathetic quest. The ONLY thing that truly matters where the media is concerned is how good the reviews for the Z10 and X10 will be when they show up in a month's time...or perhaps the coverage of the January 30th keynote.
If you truly have faith in Thor, then you'll be sure that the media coverage of the Jan 30th keynote will be very positive and if you have faith in BB10, you'll be sure the reviews will be excellent. IMHO, those of you that moan about media and opinion pieces betray your lack of confidence.

They both have. In some respects it was quite deserved, though in others, they took it too far. For example, the NYT piece about 'uncool BlackBerrys' based upon a sample size of three; or CTV going hog-wild on RIM's brief message delay while suspiciously forgetting to mention the similar outages Apple had right before and right after.
But RIM is in a tough spot ... Americans have a habit of cheering for their own. Canadians have a habit of sneering at theirs. Double whammie------------------------------------
