My family’s table talk this weekend morning took a sudden unexpected turn from politics to smartphones. In no time, we all found ourselves arguing in defense of the phones each of us owned. However, my father’s unequivocal support for his BlackBerry is what motivated me to write today. This was a very cool article. I especially like how the author notes how well RIM is doing in many emerging markets.

Funny how the press is going from RIM is dead when they were adding customers and growing to now stating making a comeback after the first financial report that they lost customers (only a Million or so but). I hope that there were a ton of people that are still shorting the stock and take a huge bath!

And who said RIM isn't advertising? This is advertising and they've been doing this for a couple months now. I believe RIM will be purchasing some PR from tech and business sources. You'll start to see a lot of these "feel good" articles leading up to Jan 30th. It's not a tv or web ad spot, but it's still advertising which could lead to word-of-mouth advertising, leading to bandwagon purchases.

It's nice to see someone out there in the US news realm who sees the vision, the reality, the big picture instead of just mindlessly repeating the same old negative tripe of yesteryear like countless other "reporters" and bloggers have done. NO, RIM/BlackBerry is not out of the woods YET but they're off to a good start so far. Let's hope that the forward momentum continues...
