Mobile Innovations In-Vehicle Playbook Dock Gets Intense International Interest
Just one day after seeingMobile Innovations’new PlayBook In-Vehicle docking solution with built-in USB and full-time charging capabilities, a major regional police force in the United Kingdom ordered 3G PlayBooks for use in a pilot project.
As a customer ofXenium Solutions(Mobile Innovations exclusive vendor partner in the UK and Australia), the law enforcement agency in question had already been using Mobile Innovations’ Mobile Police Assist (MPA) mobile data and other BlackBerry smartphone software for their officers in the field, and so was familiar with the time, money and productivity savings.
Together with Xenium CEO Bruce Murchie, Mobile Innovations President Gary Bauer visited six UK law enforcement agencies to demo his company’s new docking solution over the course of a one week tour. “It’s not often we get a major order with such speed and enthusiasm,” says Murchie. “But with the ninety percent savings over any ruggedized laptop installation, and with the unsurpassed security of the BlackBerry Platform it really comes as no surprise. We expect orders from the other agencies we visited as well, all of which are now evaluating our PlayBook in-vehicle solution.”
Murchie and Bauer will be joining forces once again in Amsterdam next January 23rd at the BlackBerry International Police Summit to be held at the Mövenpick Hotel, Amsterdam. “We expect to see agencies from Sweden, Germany, France, Denmark and other EU countries, as well as those from the Netherlands,” says Bauer. “And thanks to Bruce and his team at Xenium, we should have plenty of case study data from the field by showtime.”
The Mobile Innovations docking solution, with PlayBook and basic MPA software will be available for a cost of USD $800. – $1,000. depending on quantity and configuration. Installation in any type of police vehicle requires no extensive modifications, no wiring or on-board IT, and can be done out of the box within a couple of hours by any trained mechanic.
Alongside the Mobile Innovations PlayBook dock, Bauer will also be demoing his company’s MPA CaseMaker with USBHub, license scanner and ticker printer built in to a Pelican case at the upcoming BlackBerry event in Amsterdam.
