Default Mike and Jim retiring?

Top Crackberry article is "Thank you" to Mike and Jim. Are they leaving RIM? Is that the news Kevin is waiting to deliver?

Well, they're leaving the executive office, anyway, so in that sense it's "retirement".

Not really. They're just changing the titles on the doors to their offices. Still executives.

Usually board members do not get offices, and they are non-executive positions with no operational control.

Exactly. They're no longer involved in the day-to-day operation of the company. As board members, of course, they'll influence policy, and given that they both hold large chunks of RIM stock they're entitled to that.

But, as such major shareholders, they also need to ensure their investments retain their value.

Opps... From this point that shouldn't be too hard.

Actually, last I read, Mike is still working for RIM. He's in charge of innovation. As well he was quoted saying he would be working closely with Heins and providing him with counsel.

Yes, like rmjones101 says, I believe Mike L. is still involved with the company in a design or innovation capacity.

Let's just hope they keep him away from the media.....
