Default iDEN/CDMA Blackberry for Sprint-Nextel???

Anyone hear anything about Blackberry combining Sprint's CDMA phone and data service with Nextel's iDEN walkie-talkie feature? Motorola has those "ic" phones that do both so I am hoping for a Blackberry version. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

I am guessing this won't happen as even the 8700 was not fitted with the iDen radio. Most likely not a chance of stuffing it into a newer berry.

The 7100i and 7130e are roughly the same size(except for the antenna) so it would be possible. I guess the 71xx form factor isnt a popular one. I remain ever hopeful.

I did enough wishing for you and I when I was with them. When I came to Verizon and purchased an 8830, that cured all of my ills. Good luck though with Sprint-Nextel. They told me that they didn't know when they would come out with a new Berry model on the Nextel side. By the same token if it does happen it won't be updated like an 8830 and so forth. Good luck!!!

Reference this link. It seems a new iDen/WiFi Blackberry is in the works.

LOL. I think you meant to say that was like 10 years ago. I had an i1000 back in the day, not even the "plus", just an i1000. Since switching over to Sprint for faster data and better voice coverage on the 7130e than I had with the 7100i, it has been harder to get my teenage sons to answer their phones. The *beep*beep* was instant communication and I sorely miss it.

Talking iDen Curve

I have been oogling over the curve for sometime as well. I just stopped at a retailer this evening and was looking at other options, and the dealer said to wait. He said they are working on a iDen version of the Curve . He said it could be a few months (maybe June) but they typically do not find out until about 5 days prior to the release.

Watch where that info was at HoFo. They usually get a hold of the powerpoint that is used to show company members what is coming down the line, and the slides usually have info including release date in them.

Yeah, I guess I dont see the big deal with the chirp either. But yes, according to your sprint guy and that article listed above, it will be out soon. I dont know of a date yet though, but when I find out I will let everyone know. We usually know before the official announcement is made. I work for sprint/nextel blackberry btw.

The chirping was the way I kept in touch with my husband and my son, they hate talking on the phone, lol. I really don't miss it....
