IIRC there is a clause or Law that allows US customers to terminate their contract without early cancelation fees IF the Provider changes the terms of the contract.

Thank you. So is this a legit change or is it just a rumor? And if it does happen, how much would it really affect the bill?

Ok I'll check it out. I very look at my bill thoroughly unless there is a significant change. I guess I should start paying more attention to things.

Hmmmmm...interesting. I have 3 lines and I am looking at canceling one of them. Im not so sure that this would be a legit reason to let us out of a contract though.

there's also a part in there that says Verizon reserves the right to change those charges at any time, provided they give you notice. Verizon typically gives 3 months notice.

Oh, and if you do feel that it's necessary to run away from a few cents per month, you were probably already going to leave anyway. And what's more, if you escalate - expect the rep to just credit that amount for the rest of your contract. They won't just go "ok, I'll cancel your service".

You're absolute right about that. They never just "let you go." Before that they will make a few offers to you, even after you cancel they will try to entice you back.

I actually just called and talked with a vzw rep. about it. And she stated that it states in our contract that these rates due fluctuate. And that they sent out notices(I never recieved one). Good luck on getting out of your contract.

I don't have VZ but I'm curious, wouldn't they have something in their contract that says they can change their rates but you can't opt out of the contract if they were to do so?

Default Consumer RIghts

The changes in the contract terms are highly unlikely to allow you to rescind (get out of) your contract.

The change in terms is relatively minor, to the point where Verizon will say it is immaterial. This means, that you are stuck. If the significantly change the access price per month, decrease your minutes for the same price or some other major aspect of the contract, then you might have a valid chance.

The fact that the change is so incredibly small will not be grounds to void your contract.

Even if they did so without notice it still wouldn't be grounds to get out of the contract, but b/c they did give notice I see zero chance that Verizon lets consumers out their contract.
