I was checking into a hotel tonight - caught a bit of it on the TV in the lobby - it was a pretty sloppy interview, report, daydream - whatever you want to call it.

I think they got a year, we have seen they have already went up 13% last Monday just in rumors of a possible takeover ... I don't see the business model to be perfectly honest.... One software and a couple of hardware a does not a make a company..."

Seriously? What the heck is Apple? Where do they find these ppl....baffling to see Canadian media bashing its own innovation.

I saw it to ...was eating late so had it on .... sure the panel was not positive about Bb but look at who they work for ...just 3 people off the street who did not mind answering some economics questions. It just reflects the majority and it is not CBC bashing BB it was the panel members !!!!

One was Huffington Post editor..another one talk show host and another one was Head of Public Affairs for drug stores in Canada. They are anything but off the streets. It should have been a balanced panel. I doubt any of them even picked up the phone.

Why what have they been saying the last 2 years? That everything was great at RIM? That the marketshare in North American wasn't heading towards 0? That high profits were eroding quickly and were going to become big losses?

You hear this so often here.....then those who say this will take some exaggerated version of a prediction "they said RIM would be DEAD 2 years ago" and hold that up as if that has been an ongoing, general consensus prediction......very dishonest. It's also to ignore the fact that RIM was pretty desperately looking for a buyer last year, and had they gotten a decent offer, they'd be gone already. THE FACT is, those who have been predicting problems for RIM are the ones that were CORRECT. Assuming they continued to be negative for the next couple years, and assuming BB starts posting great results, in about 2 years, you can get back to "even" with them in terms of the accuracy of your outlook!

Sorry, but the CBC has long ago lost its cred. They didn't have one person on the panel who had anything even remotely to do with tech or the mobile industry. Amanda Lang knows more about business than all 3 of those 'panelists' put together.

Good for them, let's just get rid of BB and sell it off to China (Lenovo). Get rid of Canada's most recognizable company... morons. It's funny, because in other countries (Japan, Korea, India, etc..) you generally see much more support and praise for their companies (Nintendo, Samsung, (can't think of an Indian company but you get the idea).

Same problem we have in Vancouver, we really disregard our own ****... especially artists, musicians, and so on... No wonder successful acts who are from here get the **** out of this city /RANT.

None of them mentioned selling it to China. None of them were happy that BB's future looks bleak. In fact, they expressed regret. Nice wild emotional response to a position nobody took though!

Anytime. I know it's easy to get caught up in the rhetoric and emotion around here, and never stop to think about one is actually saying...and whether it has any validity or truth...sometimes it's good to really give think through it critically though...good on ya!

They were just getting around to reporting last year's news is all. Next year they'll be reporting that BB is showing signs of life with some of their new devices...

Amanda has been holding on to her blackberry and has repeatedly said you cannot pry it from her hands. She's been taking sh#t from Kevin O'leary for years for sticking with it. I think she'll love her next BlackBerry.
