Default Blackberry Z10 selling in Philippines on March 19

    From Rappler:

"The BlackBerry Z10 will be available in black and white models beginning March 19, with a suggested price of P29,990. It will support LTE coverage, and specific carriers will make their plans for the BlackBerry Z10 available in the coming days."

    Stoked!

Darn it, I bought my white Z10 on eBay Canada last Feb 17 and it was delayed in customs. Should have waited, should have saved $150+

While a carrier-driven culture is developing along with smartphone penetration in the Philippines, it's still largely an unlocked market. I wonder if Blackberry is now looking to start retailing the Z10 exclusively via its newly launched "Experience Pods".

Think of it this way. You paid a couple of dollars a day to use it over a month earlier than everyone else in the country. So, yes, I would say it was worth it.

Agree, if only I got it around the last week of February but sadly the seller shipped the package from Canada to US last Feb 17 and it was delayed from Feb 19 to March 01 due to seller's mistake in the documents that was sent to FedEx. From US a shipping forwarding company will send the package to the Philippines and they told me that my package will be arriving on or before March 11.

The gray market here in the Philippines started to drop its price from $1,100 to $750 one week after I bought my Z10 on eBay. That's why I'm quit disappointed with the rush buying thing I did.

Normally BlackBerry officially release new device here in the Philippines 4-6 months after it's initial release, then price drops when our local carriers offers the device to the public. This time it happen way too fast, hopefully this will happen also with the Q10 as I want the Q10 as my primary device.

According to the Blackberry website, the Z10 in the Philippines will only have the ff. network bands:

    21Mbps HSPA+
    Quad band HSPA+ 1, 2, 5/6, 8 (850/900/1900/2100 MHz)
    Quad band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

As opposed to the Z10 in Canada, which has:

    Quad band LTE 2, 5, 4, 17 (700/850/1700/1900 MHz)
    Quad band HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6, (850/1700/1900/2100 MHz)
    Quad band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
*Note: HSPA+ Band 4 (AWS) is carrier dependent

Is this a deal breaker, folks? Especially since major carriers Globe and Smart have both begun the massive rollout of their LTE networks across the country?
