Absolutely right. That is why developer can get more money from app world then other platform if you consider money from app purchased/no of phone ratio.

That is great but... it is the youth right now who will be old and wealthy in the years to come (at least some of them). Hence why it is extremely important for rim to target youth. Apple built its success on this. How many iphone users were ipod users years back?

Good point JubJubJub. But I disagree that's how Apple built it's success. Apple built it's success on the fact that many ppl invested so much $$$ in iPods and their music, they were inclined to continue purchasing iProducts. If i was an iUser, and had spent hundreds on music, apps, etc, why would I want to switch to another product and lose my investment?

RIM has GOT to work itself away from this perception.
Parents who use BB are likely to go BOGO and the kids use BBeeries. Additionally, kids use BBM.

I agree: RIM needs to adjust. Perception is important, and the current one isn't helping.
I think RIM can appeal to plenty of segments.

I do believe this to be true, but I'm not sure this is a GOOD thing for the future of RIM.

Casual users are likely well below that; in 6 years, I think my wife has purchased about 50 songs, and has never purchased any movies or TV shows. She has friends that have never even purchased music. Average iTunes Library = 3K Songs And Is Heavily Mislabeled [And Other Interesting Stats] | Cult of Mac |

This came up on here before and I'll repeat myself for good measure;
I'm a janitor in a retail store living on $23,000 a year, living in a studio apartment, and during my part of the week I get her, still being a good daddy to a 5 year old little girl. I am 30 years old, but I'm neither wealthy or afluent (not sure what that word exactly means.) Apparently, RIM has the ability to capture the heart of "the other people" afterall and it didn't even require status, or demographic oriented marketing!

| | Like gm
back then , business/wealther ppl had phone and etc. now a days that fashion changed. so Company need to adjust it self . like GM . discontinued the brand considered to be for old ppl or rename and came with a "update to date version" (fashion) and people love/want products. SAME thing RIM need to do .. PRODUCT is good but not providing what CURRENT consumers want or love. so KEEP the product quality continue and tune up the hardware little bit.

This is very misleading...
The BlackBerry used to be the absolute only phone that corporations would issue. The richest people in the world have corporate issued blackberries in most circumstances. So of course, looking at the current picture, these people will be older and wealthier.
Doesn't really come down to personal preference, more towards personal obligations.
