Blackberry for german Government
only a google translation from german (my englcih is poor, I'm afraid, but nevertheless good news for bb, I think...
"According to the "Business Week (german: Wirtschaftswoche)" , the Telekom subsidiary T-Systems and the Düsseldorf security specialist Secusmart have received from the competent Procurement Agency awarded construction and operation of the new secure communication system. Both deliver accordingly mid each about half of nearly 10,000 safe equipment.
Galaxy S2 and S3 and Blackberry to choose
Telekom uses therefore their Simko3 (Secure Mobile Communications) solution called Samsung phones of the type Galaxy S2 and S3 . The Düsseldorf Secusmart offers the new BlackBerry model Z10.
With the new smart phones, it is according to the report for the first time be able to encrypt both phone calls and e-mails - so far for each different cell phones were necessary. In addition, it is also possible common smartphone apps such as Facebook and Twitter are used, which had previously been blocked for security reasons. Companies also could buy the phones for the price of about 2,500 euros, it said. This is the exact same price, the U.S. President Barack Obama needs to pay for his high-security phone.
BlackBerry with new network structure
The decision for BlackBerry is loud "Business Week" a sensation. For many years, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) had BlackBerrys classified as untrusted . The reason: The units of the Canadian manufacturer RIM all data on server launched in the UK Egham - foreign intelligence agencies had thus gain access to sensitive government information. With the new generation of devices, BlackBerry has said goodbye to its old network structure. As of now, the data flows through the decentralized networks. Thus Secusmart could also assuage the concerns of the BSI. Officials must continue with the new phones even documents the classification level RESTRICTED VS. (Classified - only for internal use) send and receive"

One big factual error there; The RIM office in Egham was shut down quite a while ago... They've been in Slough, 200 Bath Road, since 2007, and the last of the Network Operations moved out of Egham ages ago. If you know the Bath road office a DC was built behind the office about three years ago...

Re: Blackberry for german Government
I was at CeBIT yesterday and what blackberry did there is amazing. They have a booth within Telekom and Vodafone. Had an one our talk to an software executive who was pretty open to all of my questions which he answered really honest and satisfying. I promised him not to write details but March will be really good for our blackberries. Oh one thing I am allowed to write. BlackBerry has contacted all top 20 software vendors for other platforms and they all will be on blackberry. Sooner or later.
Another absolutely cool thing. I ran out of battery during the day and went to the bb booth and asked if I can load my bb on one of the demo unit chargers. He said unfortunately no because this would start the alarm. He was asking where I got my z10 from since it is so brand new and not really launched in Germany. I said I went to UK to buy one because I was so eagerly waiting for the new platform. He then took my bb and opened it and took a charged battery out of the demo unit and said. Fully charged now. I was really surprised and didn't know what to say. That's blackberry service.
If you are at the CeBIT just visit these blackberry guys. They are super nice and very well trained. The blackberry areas are packed with people and they are pretty amazed with the new phone.
Btw they have the q10 with them and I was able to play with it the whole time. I for me will stay with the z10 but this phone is a masterpiece. They have a full carbon back that looks to amazing. Since the z10 keyboard I don't need the physical keys anymore. I was typing a lot on both.
Any questions welcome.
