Default Blackberry 8230 on sale for Telus

CDMA BlackBerry Pearl Flip Makes First Appearance on Telus

By Simon Sage on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 at 1:00 PM PST In BlackBerry, Telus

The BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 8230 is now showing up on Best Buy Canada for the Telus (NYSE: TU) network. It’s probably reasonable to assume the white one we’ve seen floating around will be Verizon (NYSE: VZ)’s version. Pink’s a suiting colour, bound to attract the Flip’s natural demographic, but it will be available in classic black for those who still mean business. Price is listed at $499.99, presumably off contract and before subsidies. The GSM Pearl Flips are going for around $50 right now, so it would be fair to expect something similar here. No word on specs, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for EVDO, at very least.

A few extra features (like rumored video calling) would give the Pearl Flip some much-needed love. It’s entirely possible that the construction was improved too, as was the case with the original BlackBerry Pearl 8130. The GSM version feels pretty danged flimsy, so this is RIM’s chance to really make this thing sell. You can probably expect the new Pearl Flip on Bell and Verizon any day now.
