agree. Only one carrier for the first week and little hoopla based on people's comments on in store experiences. Thursday can't come soon enough. Easter eggs in time for Easter.

I think a lot of people are worried about bb10 sales performance in the US. Well consider this: 6% of smartphone sales in the US are BB7 devices. Imo this is great considering there was no new phone since the Sept 2011! It's amazing people are still buying Bb7 considering BB10 is launching this month. So there are many fans in the US, many of which are holding off their upgrades for the qnx offering. Is it fair to say that that pent up demand, a fresh new modern OS, considerably more functional, can double the sales of bb7? My bet is that market share in USA will be 15%. While this is low compared to other countries such as Canada, UK, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia... BlackBerry will do just fine overall!

lets hope youre right with the 15% BlackBerry has a rep for beign a compunication tool, throw gamign and speed into the mix and i think tehre may be alot of people coming back to it, but this is a theory that is yet to be proven, the Z10 is infact a great gaming device and is smooth as silk

They keep talking about lineups. There were no lineups in Canada and it has been selling very well. Ive never seen lineups for android phones either. Its only Apple products because of the limited stores that get them on launch days.

It's great that I can watch this on my Z10. I would not be able to watch this on my iPhone.

Back to the subject.. If they can sell 300,000 in the first weekend, that's a great start considering it is only 1 carrier in 1 country and in 3 days only.. I saw somewhere that Verizon has more BlackBerry customers and that they historically have been supportive of BB, so I hope the numbers for Verizon are even better...

Basing how well sales are on how long the lines are is antiquated since most people preorder / order online. Besides whos to say those standing in lines aren't being paid to create the illusion of demand (when most of the phones have been ordered online).
Now for att to sell 300k devices this weekend with their abysmal Z10 displays and advertising, i would say thats pretty good. Both att stores i was in had the z10 in the farthest corner of the store. It was quite sad actually. Not one sign hanging with a picture or anything. Not sure who screwed this one up.

I've been monitoring sales of my apps and had noticed that Indonesia was doing very well. It was well above UK daily sales levels, and to date had already passed UK sales totals even though Indonesia officially launched just over a week ago whereas the UK was January 31.

Yesterday and today I've noticed a huge surge in US sales numbers, and it's already matching Indonesia's totals over the last four days even though it's been officially selling for less than two days. It's more than just the usual weekend sales boost too... that only accounts for an extra 10-20% maybe, and I've "controlled" for that already by checking the other countries. I'd say my (limited) data shows the US coming online in a big way.

It's really too soon to draw any firm conclusions, but from where I sit the early numbers look perfectly good. I don't see any sign of a problem with the US sales so far. Maybe other devs would post some observations too.

lol line ups to determine hot product what is this early 2000's.People have jobs and better sh1t to do than line up for an extra row.Someone tell these supposed reporters that in this era internet shopping is a massive percentage of how people buy products.People preorder to avoids the nonsense of travelling and wasting a day if they can get stuff delieverd to them early in the morning.

The standard of reporting tech has gone to pants. People only see whats infront of them.US press looking ameteurish out here these days. How hard is it to get facts, look at all factors before posting it to the world broadcasting reports as news.

Anyways numbers will be alright in US market. The goal was never about winning everything back ,Rome was not built in a day.BB set out its targets, that being upgrade the current user base.Every other new bb10 owner is a bonus.US is just not primetime location for BB has'nt been for years.BB will target the corporate and business folk they will not be banking on the fickle consumers the adaptation and change could take 1-3 years.BB would be better off spending resources elsewhere where it can make gains in long run.BB will be just fine in US.

Keep in mind that T-Mobile has been shipping devices all week to business customers my office received 5 on Tuesday. Yes early and lucky! The numbers are there just being shipped directly to the customer. Can not put this device down BTW loving it! And so will the US in time..

i've been saying this for many years now, this is why the human race has gone to ****, people refuse to open their eyes to the world around them, and the thing is it is so easy these days to view the world with the internet and the plethora of ways to get access to it

Well estimates do vary, but actually it was generally reported that the numbers were closer to 5% at the beginning of 2012 and went to around 1-2% by the end - essentially, nobody was buying BB7 devices by the end of 2012.

    Hey Peter,
Can you please compare the US numbers vs Canadian numbers at launch? I know it's still early as Verizon and Tmobile haven't started shipping to consumers but it would be good to know. Indonesia may not be a heavy app buying country but Canada sure is. Cheers I'm buying your app

That number sounds a bit high to me. I have the number two top paid game in BlackBerry World (Visual Connection), so I checked my download report and have very few BB10 sales from the US. Kind of disappointing, luckily UK and Canada are buying lots
