Default Unlocked Pearl 9105, will BBM still work?

I have recently purchased a brand new pearl that is locked to o2, however I'm with T-mobile.

If I get the phone unlocked how easy will it be to set it up with the Tmobile settings, and will BBM be blocked because I unlocked the phone. I understand I need to set up a new account with Tmobiles BIS.

I currently have the BB bolt on and it works fine with my curve.

I have just read a few people saying that once they have unlocked there phones and BBM doesnt work anymore. Is this true? Will my phone functions work fine once unlocked and using a T-mobile sim.

It will not work unless you get the MEID released to T-Mobile from o2.

You would have to call O2 and have them send the pin rights to T-mo.
But yeah it would be kinda a big effort.

Unless you save significantly then i recommend you stay with O2.

    Great, ergh.

I didn't really want to go back to o2 as there PAYG tariffs are confusing. Was happy with T-mobile.

I just assumed I could unlock the phone and the BBM would still work.

Errrrr what? The phone is brand new and was never used on O2 correct? Just get your data plan slap in your simcard and you're good to go.

The phone is brand new, but locked to o2. I want to get it unlocked to use on T-mobile. Its still in the box and not used as of yet.

I just assumed I would register the phone to T-mobiles BIS and I would be good to go and BBM would still work.

    I'm confused now lol.

    Your assumption was correct.

    Thankyou.

Why did the previous poster say I had to get some code released from O2?

That's if it was on a O2 BIS account you would have to get the PIN released before activating a BIS account on another carrier.

I got a BB 9100 from AT&T, got a code to unlock it from ebay ($2) and it works just like that. All i had to do is to change my regular data plan to BB specific one (that cost exactly the same) and that was it.

Didn't have to do anything else what so ever.
