How to Turn off Status updates from BB Messenger contacts

I have a client that thinks his BB Messenger account is a twitter account and so I get 5 messages a day telling me where he is, what he is doing and how he feels. Nice remarks asking "Perhaps you should get a twitter account" didn't get the point across.

Is there a way short of deleting him as a contact to stop from getting status updates? Heck even a global status update killing would be fine.

You can't actually block his status from being shown but you can turn off recent
updates in the BBM options if you're using BBM5

If you have BBM 5.0 open up your messenger press the blackberry key select options and where it says recent updates you can set it to none and no status updates will appear but I don’t think you can set it for an individual contact.
