beta OS 4.5.0.18 & BBM - help
i just installed 4.5.0.18 last night and i haven't had any major problems with it, except for the fact that suddenly, a few hours ago, my BBM started messing up. it shows my sent messages as not having been sent yet, but the person has received them and is replying to me but i can't see them in the conversation window. i only see a few words when it pops up in my messages (where my texts and emails are).
is there a way to fix this, or should i just go back to the regular version?
if i decide to go back to the regular can somebody help me because i dont know how to do that

you can download the old os from my.t-mobile.com its under system upgrade then you would have to read the thread in my signature about installing the os and removing the vendor xml file

I dont understand why people are going crazy over this 4.5, I mean its not going to make anything insanely different and def not worth loading a beta version risking these problems every1 is having...
At&t CSR Natasha: That is a great question. One moment while I research this for you!

JayT, are you running version 4.5.018?
...on a T-mobile 8320? hmmm!
Do you know if it has resolved the issue with using a Bluetooth ear-piece and UMA (Wi-Fi calling)?
Getting mobile YouTube?
What other goodies do you notice?
Thanks!

That's the thing about OS 4.5 beta, sometimes it works fine on a phone and sometimes it does not. I think that there may be minor hardware or firmware differences on different phones of the same type.
The full public release is rumored to be in July. What will be in that release is still a matter of conjecture.
To downgrade to the latest released version of the software, follow these instructions.
Look at the top of this forum to find the latest compatible OS for your phone and download it to your PC.
Uninstall any other Blackberry OSs that may be installed.
Install the one you just downloaded.
Delete the Vendor.xml file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.
Make sure that you have v4.3 of Desktop Manager download Desktop Software v4.3 b25 without Media Manager (English).exe installed and connect you phone.
Follow the prompts.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP before you start the upgrade process. - 05-09-2008, 09:41 AM #16
Well, Just look at mass produced PC's in the retail market... They always have the same parts inside, But its not un-common for the same windows update to cause havoc on some and run great on others... I guess its the nature of the game...
For me at least, Im lucky, 4.5.18 seems to run really well... But I may try re-loading it a second time just to see if it helps with the periodic lag Im getting if I free up some more memory... - 05-09-2008, 12:24 PM #17
You are right but the big difference here is that a PC clone maker simply has to make a motherboatd,or peripheral that comes with a set of driver that work with the market standard - Windows. If they do not do this and it does not work, then nobody buys it.
In the case of the Blackberry, RIM are the sole makers of the hardware and the OS. They own the whole mess and they have to make their OSs work across their whole range of products. If there are small differences between early and late models of the same phone then they have to handle this too when they come to issue a new release.
For me, 4.5.18 caused my 8100 to continually reboot and on my 8310 it proved very unstable so I sold the phone with a stable OS installed and have now bought a new 8310 that seems to behave better.
It is for this reason that I said what I did initially. Your phone took .18 pefectly, my old, sold one did not. Others have had similar good/bad experiences. - 05-09-2008, 02:51 PM #18
If I could get Telenav working on 4.5, I would be using it right now.
Other than that, it's great. Right now, 4.5 isn't for me. I didn't realize how much I like using Telenav. I don't need it, but love using it.CrackBerry.com Mod | Retired Android Central Mod | Tech Enthusiast

I have 4.5.0.18 on my T-mobile 8320.
Mobile youtube works. Although, when signal is low, it will not work, it has trouble connecting to the youtube server at times. There is an equalizer in the media player. Media player has a new design. There is also a video recorder, and voice recorder. The voice recorder has been very good quality so far (I recorded a lecture at my school), and the video recorder is very good for a mobile device. You are even able to take video in complete darkness, because the flash stays on and compensates for the darkness. Radio tends to turn off every now and then randomly.
Email looks more refined. Although HTML email isn't available yet. Convenience keys (both left and right) can be set for any application including video camera and camera. There is a memory cleaner. New BB Dimension L Theme. Links to pics after the jump:
