Send email - general failure

Hi,
I have a BB 8520 Curve and although I was able to send emails successfully I cannot any longer. I hit send but the email doesn't go. A red cross is shown next to the email and when I open that email it shows a Message Status: General Failure. Resend gets same result.
Any ideas?

Thanks have already tried this but no joy. On the odd occasion a send is successful but I can't fathom why that one in a blue moon works and the majority of attempts don't.
