Just bought a new bb 9790, BBM is being weird.

Hey guys I just bought the phone and the BBM won't send or recieve invites properly, any ideas?

Do you have an active BlackBerry Data Plan for the device?
Is your other data working properly?

You need to have BIS. You need to activate the device with your carrier.
If you have done that, and still facing problems update your BBM and give your device battery pulls. If it still doesn't work either take it back for a replacement or try updating the OS

How do I go about activating it with my carrier? Because I think that would be whats it haha. And does the plan have to be specifically for blackberry, or will just a simple smartphone plan with 1GB of data usage suffice?

You need to contact your carrier and have them add/change your plan to include BLACKBERRY specific data.

A "simple smartphone plan" will not work.

Thanks guys I did change my plan and its like 30 bucks cheaper than what i was at...thanks...phone is working awesome and I'm absolutely thrilled with this device!
