If you go in to your BBM profile, click on your picture. There's a folder named 'avatars'. In that folder are 9 new animated avatars for you to choose from.
Colored bubbles: Click on a contact and go to their profile. You'll see a new option that says 'bubble color'. You can set them individually for each contact.
You can also send requests to your contacts to download 'BBM connected apps', like BBM Music, for example.
