Default Bricked phone, old backup, Email restore

A friend of mine's phone bricked, and the most recent backup he had was about 2 months old. He got his new phone running, and is wondering if a restore from the old backup will overwrite his "current" email. I'm pretty sure this is no the case, but I also think there is a switch ot set to endure this, am I right? Does he have to say "don't wipe out the current emial" or will BB Restore know not to do so?

Default

If he had BB ID.setup he can login to that and it will remember all the email accts. After logging in the adresses will popup. Then all that is required is to input passwords for each.
