Default movies on 9550?

I'm going on vacation and would like to watch some movies on my S2. Do I need to do anything special? Do I need a certain program? Also what do I save the file as? .avi?

Thanks

I use Handbrake to convert dvds for the Storm and iPhone. It will convert the video to mp4 format which plays the best on both devices.

I have three comedian shows of Jeff Dunham on my Storm 2 that I have on my computer in a .avi format and to add them I simply plugged my phone in and opened Desktop Manager and went to Media>Media Manager and simple choose to copy them from my computer to my Storm 2 and I choose to copy for optimal playback.

The quality of them turned out amazing on my Blackberry. I couldn't be happier. It almost seems like the quality is better on my Storm 2 then the computer, haha!

So all I did was I had the .avi files and used Media Manager to copy and convert them to my Storm 2 for optimal playback I think was the key.

I use AVS on my pc and Handbrake on my Hackintosh. Both do a really good job. There is a tutorial lurking around here somewhere and in it they give links to free software and directions on settings, I used it and it worked quite well.

Yep, did same here. Works fine. Make sure you have "mass storage mode" on when transferring.

Default I use Extra DVD ripper free...

..google it. It rips DVD's great and it's FAST. Can rip a full movie to AVI in about 30mins or so. The free version rips only to AVI which work fine on my S2. I use the 320X240 format to keep files down to 350-500MB which means I can put 20+ full lenth vids on my 16GB card. You can do other format sizes but I found quality isn't really any better, you not going to get HD quality on the S2 anyway and they just use up more space on the SD card.

That way you really don't need to do any conversion. Of course if you want to convert to different format for use on other devices you will need AVS or Handbrake type software.
