snow leopard wont recognise blackberry as a blackberry.

hey,
so i recently got my macbook pro, snow leopard 10.6.6, and after downloading the latest DM, and installing it, i read the tutorial on crackberry, about how to set it up.
i noticed in the tutorial that it said that it would recognise my phone as CURVE_8520 or whatever, however it sees it as NO NAME, and that drive is my memory card (4gb) , and desktop manager wont recognise it.
i have scoured the internet, and tried every solution that seemed plausible, but none of them have worked.

so to recap:
desktop manager doesnt recognise.
mac sees as a mass storage device, and not my phone.
