Default Help with simple (I think) Contact Sync Issue?

Hi...I (hopefully) have a simple issue...I use a Bold 9650..I have macbok pro...using newest Mac DM....so lets say I have a particular contact on the Device..lets say it has three phone numbers...lets say I delete on of the numbers on the Device...when I sync...instead of the DM deleting that number on the Mac Address Book...it puts that number back onto the Device....????? Shouldnt a two-way sync recognize that the delete on the device was the newest change and delete that number from the address book on the mac? Thanks...what am I doing wrong?

i would choose replace all contacts on device under advanced settings and delete the number on the computer and not the fone.
