Default Formatting sd card

My phone does not read the media card in >configurations>memory it says "media card can not be read.verify that the memory card is formatted." but when i press format in the options menu it says "media card format failed." I was told to format it form my computer.
My question is how do you format the media card from the computer keeping in mid that it is a macbook.

You could try using disk utility while your blackberry is mounted. It should offer you the option to erase the SD Card. Then when you un-mount the card, the blackberry should say "new media card found, would you like to format it? Formatting removes all data on card".

Hope that helps.
