Bold 9000 contact sync takes a long time

i'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem and found a solution. running blackberry desktop manager on snow leopard syncing to a Bold 9000 with version 5 software. all software is the latest versions. when syncing the phone it takes well over an hour for the sync to complete. if i don't sync the contacts (about 200 contacts) it completes in a matter of minutes. i don't get any sort of error messages and the sync log looks completely normal. it appears to me the problem is with syncing contacts. It shouldn't take that long to sync 200 contacts should it? this was also happening when i had version 4.6 on the phone. any help is appreciated.
