Exclamation You've deleted vendor.exe and your PC doesn't see the OS update???

I've been using a new laptop and recently installed all the BB software. I tried to update my OS, but the Loader would only recognize my vendor's OS and not the latest leak (after deleting vendor.exe). After downgrading the Desktop Manager and a lot of hair pulling I finally managed to get it going. (I used to build hybrids so I know my stuff).
I finally worked out the problem after reading the following thread

Open up a command prompt and type this in "dir /a /s C:\vendor.xml". I bet it comes up with a vendor.xml file hiding somewhere that you missed, seen this happen on quite a few systems now.

Yeah they have started putting another copy of the .xml somewhere forgot now where. Roaming Profiles I think.

Just open a search across the entire C:\ drive like HaTaX suggests for vendor.xml and delete the extra copy they now have.

Windows XP has a different directory structure, the user directory is called Documents and Settings

And also the directory may be hidden within that.

I'm sure you know your stuff but, your problem is that there's no such thing as a "vendor.exe" file. If you've been trying to delete that file, you'd be SOL. The virtualized file is called "vendor.xml" and can be found by clicking on "compatibility file" in the apploader folder. This is after you've deleted the same file in normal file view in the same folder. It does not happen in all Windows installations, but does on some. I'm running W7 64-bit and I don't have compatibility file virtualization in my BB OS install.

Just for reference, in that folder there are two files, on vendor, and the other Device. DO you need to delete both?? because i just did... and it seems to be working! I did this on Win7 btw..

I'm not BB expert. I only using it for about a year.
I've delete vendor.xml in RIM's folder but DM still did not recognize the latest OS hybrid. I am using W7 64. my bb is a brick coz I've allready wipe it. I repeate the installation and my bb still error507 (if I'm not mistasken) but then I remember someone said that on W 64 bit, vendor.xml also exist somewhere in c:\users\xxxx.
I search and also deleted that vendor.xml, the installation works. thanks God.
Just sharing, hope someone didn't have to throw away their brick BB like I do..

For the first time this week I had to delete all the .xml files to install the new 9810 leak. There were more than e files in the RIM folder. Deleting only vendor.xml was not enough. Running Win 7 under BootCamp on Mac OS10. Tricky those vendors are trying to be these days.

OP please ask a mod to change the title and you should edit your post as it is not an exe file but xml file. New users will be so confused.

Thanks
