Default unable to upgrade os

For some reason I cannot update my os, I am with rogers, I downloaded a bell os for my 9700 and deleted the vendor file. However when I run app loader it only gives me the option to add/remove third party apps...nothing about the os just 3rd party or non native bb apps. I have been updating since os6 first dropped for the 9700 and have been able to upgrade all until dm was recently upgraded and .600 was released....any suggesstions?

You can try the following steps:

1. Download BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0.2 from https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&CPI D=OTC-SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS&cp=OTC-SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS
2. Uninstall all BlackBerry OS 6 from your PC
3. Uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.1 from your PC
4. Restart your PC
5. Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0.2
6. Install the latest leak / official BlackBerry OS 6
7. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (for 64-bit)
8. Delete Vendor.xml
9. Launch Loader.exe

Let me know if that nail it.

I think i have to agree with Rob_UK, I used my wifes laptop and it installed no problem.....I reinstalled DM and all that jazz and nothing seemed to work on my laptop...I even searched my registry for instances of the loader files directory and for the OS i was attempting to install...I found a few instances and they were all correct so it must be something else in the registry throwing off app loader....n e ways, i figured it was my pc and not my berry but I couldnt have imagined why it would have been my pc. In regards to blackberries all i do on my pc is a little theme dev and install some os's. So its a shame really that something messed up the registry and now Im gonna have to format and get it back to normal......thanks rob and gohtohlee for replying!

@Rob_UK

Just thought I would post an update on my pc situation...Ok so I was really not looking forward to formatting my pc as I have it nicely setup and configured and couldnt really spare the time to redo it all atm. So, I decided to completely remove all traces of RIM software (Excluding Theme Builder/Composer/Device Sims), including files and registry entries.

I then rebooted my pc, installed DM, then my device software and rebooted again and guess what! Its working back to 100%. I can now load and modify os components through app loader. So here is what I did:

How to Perform a Clean Uninstall/Reinstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Forums Support Community

I followed Tasks, 2,4,6. Everytime I tried to uninstall DM it seemed to just rebooted my pc with no effect. SO i just skipped that part and manually removed DM. The only thing I didnt remove was the installer info. After following the above tasks. I searched the registry for "c:\program files (x86)\common files\research in motion\shared" and deleted the references.

Also note if you are using win 7 then the user folders are not in document in settings, they are c:\users\(USERNAME)\app data\Local & c:\users\(USERNAME)\app data\Roaming

Hope this works for you, worth a shot if you are already planning to reformat.

I am also thinking, it might not have been the registry but the loader cache or some config file associated with the loader process....n e ways...working now

I didn't bother opening it, but you have another similarly titled thread in the Leaked OS Forum as well. Please don't double-post; it crowds & confuses the forums.

You found the simplest solution: trying another PC. Good for you.

Since I'm the curious type, I was wondering about your previous OS's. Sounds like you always kept up with the newest. That usually means leaks.
I assume you just downloaded this Bell OS (v615) directly from RIM's site. What browser did you use on your first PC to do so? IE, FF, or Chrome?
And had you DLed any of your other recent OS's from RIM too? Or were they all uploaded files or via a particular carrier's site, like how Vodafone does it?

Thats correct, I did keep up with newest. I also had a 9000, and 9800 OS software installed as I updated a couple friends bb`s. I could not tell you which browser I used, either firefox or chrome.

In regards to my above solution, I recently was fed up with .615 and wanted to downgrade to .461(Best version yet for me). In doing so I was at the same crossroads when the issue occured.

So I repeated the above steps and that didn`t seem to work. I then removed all references of the OS software from my HD and registry...that didn`t work. So I decided to run the OS`s installer`s and remove them that way. That worked. So in the end it was most likely an issue with an installer from the many version I had installed on the cpu...
