Step by step instructions on downloading OS 5.0v7.11 for the 9630???

Firstly, I'm very sorry because I'm sure there are several threads that cover this, but for some reason I'm not able to find them. I'm also VERY, VERY, VERY, worried about screwing up my phone, so I don't want to be careless with this.

Is there a particular post where someone can direct me with step by step directions on how to put this hybrid OS onto my phone when all I've had on it is the factory settings its had since day 1.

Also, anything I should be on the lookout for, etc? I'm going to backup all my contacts right now, other than that I really don't need anything thats currently on my phone. Itll suck to lose my text history and stuff, but thats unavoidable right?

Follow the Procedures for Upgrading/Downgrading link in my thread. It's an older post but it's in my sig because it's still a safe (although maybe overkill) way of doing things. Don't skip any steps and DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP WITH DM FIRST!

1. If I have the 4.7 OS that came witht the phone, do I need to DL something before I download that OS
5.0v7.11 file?

2. You mentioned in one of the steps the need to wipe your phone completely with some program, is that step necessary?

1) You should install the .230 on you tour and on your computer.
2) You do not need to wipe.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. Before I officially make the plunge, what are some of the advantages of this new OS? I saw speed and improved battery life, as well as texting being more like the way it is for bbm. Is that true? Are there other features?
