Question.....I remember 5.0 being said to have 4.7 components just carried over from the higher builds. Why is the OS so buggy then? Is it because 5.0 has other additions over the latest 4.7 builds that have to comply?

The only reason I think 5.0 won't be as good as storm 2xx builds is because we have already seen 5.0 on other blackberries and its nothing revolutionary. Or is the storm 5.0 completely new rather than a ported build with the same functionality? It just seems like the 2xx are newer then the 5.0 to me

Maybe it's just me, but I still think a lot of this push/pull battle RIM fights with the code to get everything working properly is because of the poor nature of the Java platform. I mean seriously, when you compile a version and you lose basic (I can't answer a call) functionality when you probably didn't even touch that part of the code, something tells me you're trying to build your mansion out of a deck of cards instead of normal building materials. |

You have a good point there. But I think the software has potential when they do get rid of the bugs.

You'll never get one that's 100%... get used to it. I believe it's completely impossible to perfect a Java based OS... not one that's required to have so much functionality. Java really should stay on basic systems... if even that.

Alot of you guys (Storm owners) will be dissappointed will 5.0. The best feature so far is the loading/reboot screen. Don't expect anything to flashy.

Do you speak from a programming background, or from just hearing people talk about some limitations of Java and coming up with your own conclusions (remember the entire OS isn't built out of Java).
It is possible that they did make changes which impact answering a phone call, we just don't know what it is. I don't think its really fair to anyone at RIM for us to be sitting on our computers on a forum looking at screenshots and judging how well they know their jobs, especially when I highly doubt most people here have any experience in a job such as designing a phone OS, let alone any kind of software developement (judging from lots of the posts). I say wait till the final version until we decide to judge how good of a job they have done.

Linux isn't perfect either. There is no such thing as perfect completely bug free software, especially when you are trying to get the kind of functionallity that we want out of a smartphone. When you have no control over what programs a user loads on a phone, or how they use it it is virtually impossible to account for all different situations. We will never see a perfect OS, and neither will any phone, just learn to love and appreciate what you have and stop finding fault in absolutely everything, because you'll drive yourself crazy.

Well, let's see, RIM cannot stamp an OS as "final version" really since they don't release the OSs, the carriers do. With that said, you think .148 is "final version"?..... yeah, didn't think so either.
Not raining on your parade, just putting some things into perspective.

@cd36
Let me guess.... You're the guy who's got a blackberry tattoo on his shoulder.
