tripodknight,
You got the right leaked OS for Japanese input.
I have exactly the same setting as you.
Only way to input Japanese is to use "romaji" method unless you have a Japanese keyboard (then you can use Hiragana/Katakana input method), which is not the case for our Bold 9700.
Go to:
Options...Typing and Input...Language
and you can choose Display Language, Input Lanaguage, and Voice Dialing Language.
The default is English.
However, try the pull down menu.
If you can choose between English and Japanese, you have Japanese input installed correctly.
If you only see English (and all other non-Japanese langugage) then you must have omit Japanese at the install and unfortunatley, only way to recover that is re-install.
If you did install the OS correctly, you should be able to select between English and Japanese using Alt+Enter (default) or Shift+Space.
This is from any screen like mail, web, BBM, etc.
Go to Options...Typing and Input...Language...Language Switcher to change this.
Also, you did select the default "Input Language" as Japanese, then go to
Go to Options...Typing and Input...Typing
Physical Keyboard Style should show "Japanese Input Method"
Click on Advanced Style Options and Available Input Modes gives you some choices for Katakana and ASCII.
I have Katakana Full-width and ASCII Half-width checked for my convenience.
I hope this helps!
