Default Question: Use official vendor.xml in leaked os...

Has anyone done this, can it be done,,,,

My 9810 is running on 7.0 bundle 1948 (7.0.0.439), On my PC, in the RIM OS, can I move the Vendor.xml to another folder, say I move it into documents, then I delete the 7.0 off my PC.

Then I download and install leaked 7.1 onto my PC, then I delete the Vendor.xml in the 7.1 OS, then I copy the Vendor.xml from 7.0 into 7.1....

Whats going to happen???

I don't even really see the benefit of taking the time to do this.
If the vendor file was so important, I think it would've been done already.

There's no reason to do that.

The only thing that the vendor.xml file does is identify (to your computer) that the OS version came from a particular carrier.

The vendor.xml file doesn't serve any other real purpose.

No reason to copy it.

I agree. Somehow, every OS I load, official, leaked, or from another vendor, when it's done, it seems to know that I'm on AT&T. I always end up with the default theme having the AT&T background.

So, apparently, the vendor file has nothing to do with that. It's actually another file that controls what gets loaded based on the phone's own vendor ID number. And every OS has that file that covers all possible carriers. I think it is the blackberry.alx file.
